WINE TRIP TO KAVALA
Discover Kavala and its surrounding region through a unique journey of taste, history, and culture. Built amphitheatrically above the Aegean, the city has been a crossroads of civilizations since Roman and Byzantine times, through the Ottoman era, and into modern Greece.
Kavala stands out for its living traditions and rich culinary identity, shaped over centuries by Romans, Ottomans, and Greeks. The local cuisine is layered and authentic, often paired perfectly with the wines of northeastern Greece and Drama.
The region is home to some of Greece’s most renowned wineries, producing internationally awarded labels, as well as smaller, family-run estates that preserve the legacy of viticulture. Here you will experience both globally recognized wines and unique small-scale productions that tell the story of the land.
But Kavala is not only about wine – it is also a journey into history. From ancient Philippi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to the impressive Roman aqueduct (Kamares) and the charming old quarter of Panagia with its narrow alleys and mansions, the city blends past and present in a truly captivating way.
Just outside the city, the Aggitis Cave offers a fascinating natural wonder, while a day trip to Thassos island reveals traditional villages, ancient monuments, and authentic island flavors, always with wine and local hospitality at the center.
The experience of Kavala and northeastern Greece is a journey where history, nature, and wine meet. Here, every glass and every flavor carries centuries of tradition and offers a genuine insight into contemporary Greece.
